Submit your article using the form at the bottom of the page and you could win $100. Plus, exposure and recognition for your good sports writing. It's as simple as that. But, if you want the details, here they are:
The The Best Sports Blog (TBSB) is sponsoring a sportswriter contest. The GRAND PRIZE WINNER will win $100. There will also be numerous "Runner-Up" awards; each receiving $10. It is possible that one writer could win multiple awards, thus possibly winning more than $100 in total.
Here's how it works.
Contestants submit sports articles (no limit on topic as long as sports related) by e-mailing them to thebestsportsblog[at]gmail.com or by submitting them via the form below. The article must be at least 500 words in length and original. It must be the author's own words; not copied from anywhere else. Once submitted, it becomes the property of TBSB and cannot be submitted anywhere else.
TBSB's content manager will determine whether the submitted article meets minimum quality guidelines. If not, it will be returned to the submitter with instructions on how to improve it. Assuming minimum quality guidelines are met, TBSB's webmaster will determine where on the website (or partner website) the article will be posted. However, wherever it is posted, there will be a link to it on the Facebook contest page so that it can be easily found. TBSB will place a unique Facebook "Like" button on the article, which will be important as you will see.
At the end of each month, one "Honorable Mention" award of $10 will be paid to the article posted during that month that received the most facebook "likes" (from legitimate facebook accounts -- i.e. not any created just for this contest) during the month it was posted and the next month (to give late entrants a chance). So, for instance, all articles posted during the month of July will be compared at midnight on August 31. Whichever has the most facebook "like" votes will win the $10 July Honorable Mention Prize.
The GRAND PRIZE WINNER will be determined at Midnight, June 30, 2012 and will be the writer of the article with the most Facebook "Likes." Simple and transparent!
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
If desired, TBSB will provide contestants with topics and even particular phrases to use in their articles that we believe are likely to receive substantial traffic. If writers write on these suggested topics, we will give the article additional prominence on the site. All of this should increase traffic to the article and thereby increase the likelihood of the article receiving Facebook "Likes." To find out more about this, just e-mail us or use the form below.
Some writers who submit quality pieces (the best ones) will be offered the opportunity to join the staff at TBSB. Some TBSB staff writers receive compensation for their writing. Details will be provided to qualified contestants.
The Grand Prize; Runner-Up Prize; and Honorable Mention Prize winners will receive substantial exposure on TBSB and partner websites.
Contestants may encourage their friends, family and/or other acquaintances to read and "like" their submission.
Contestants may submit more than one article and thus could win multiple awards.
Yes, contestants certainly can ask their Facebook Friends (or anyone else) to "Like" their article. It's to be expected. No problem.
Winners will be required to provide information (if any is necessary) for tax reporting purposes prior to receiving their award.
We would like to publicize the winners; thus we will request some basic bio info and a small picture. This will not be mandatory but actually submitting a picture of the author with the article would likely engage readers and help the article obtain Facebook "like" votes.
Submission of relevant pictures that a contestant is authorized to share will be posted with the article and will also likely increase traffic and Facebook "like" votes for that article.
