Johnny Bench Jersey

Johnny Bench was one of the greatest catchers in baseball history! Bench was drafted 36th overall by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 1965 amateur draft, playing for the minor-league Buffalo Bisons in the 1966 and 1967 seasons before being called up to the Reds in August 1967. Hall of Famer Ted Williamssigned a baseball for him which predicted that the young catcher would be "A Hall of Famer for sure!" Williams' prediction eventually became fact with Johnny Bench's election to the Hall of Fame in 1989 and he remains a Reds icon to this day!

An integral part of "The Big Red Machine" from 1970 to 1976, Johnny Bench was perhaps the Cincinnati Reds' finest pitcher. During his time with the Reds, Johnny was selected to the All-Star Game 14 times, awarded the Gold Glove 10 times (including his rookie season) and helped the Reds win two World Series championships. Known for his strong throwing arm and expert defense, Bench contributed heavily to the Reds success during his 17 years with the team.
