I would hate to see him in the kitchen after he burns the microwave pizza. If he goes into a restaurant and stiffs you for a tip, just walk away quickly. It's better to have your eyeball than a few bucks. In baseball it's okay to kick dirt at the umpire, get in his face, or throw the base pads. If he wants to throw something throw something soft. Take your smelly socks and throw it. Remember last week Udonis Haslem threw his mouthpiece at ref Joey Crawford. He missed him but still drew a one game suspension. It's small and soft. It's not a freakin wooden bat.
After reviewing the video tape there's no other reaction but to suspend his ass for a long time. My goodness I'm not going to say he's as dumb as Ricky Williams who chose pot over millions of dollars. But it has to rank up there with Ron Artest going into the stands.
Reading the accounts of the incident it was tough to determine how he tossed the bat at the umpire. Was it a soft throw? I thought as he got tossed he walked by the umpire and tossed the bat into his chest.
It's shocking that he was out of view of the camera when he threw the bat. He had some serious velocity on it. It's more than a "flip" of the bat. When someone hits a homerun they flip the bat. This is an all out throw. Just look at how much the bat bounced off the umpire. Look how after the catcher sees the bat thrown he shakes his head and starts walking to the mound. Presumably to get out of the way in case all hell breaks loose. He turns around like someone in a horror movie who's being chased by the bad guy. He's gotta be thinking that was the craziest thing he's ever seen.
He's more lucky the bat hit the umpire in the chest as opposed to his face. If it would have broken bones or drew blood I think we'd see assault charges right now. I would love to hear what big momma had to say about it. I think she's got her own bat made for whooping in the closet.

Damn that’s the first I saw of it. I kept hearing he flipped the bat so, like you said, I was thinking more of a post-homerun toss. …
