In honor of the passing of one of the most memorable characters of the 90's, this week's NFL observations are a tribute to Pat Morita aka Mr. Miyagi. (Did you know he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role? I had no idea). Two quotes from the movie can help describe the best and the worst from Sunday.
Wax On
The Bears have won seven straight game behind their stellar defense and their offense that bends but doesn't break. We can start to believe in them cause they are the real deal. Sorry to whomever has to play them in Chicago for the 1st round of the playoffs. Brrrrr.
Wax Off
Kickers Matt Bryant, and Jay Feely. Both missed crucial field goals. Bryant missed a 29 yard field goal that would have tied the game for Tampa Bay. The Giant's Jay Feely had it worse. He missed a game winning field goal attempt as time expires. Then proceeds to miss two more field goals in overtime. The New York media will be all over him like white on rice this week.
Wax On
Seattle for winning a possible NFC championship preview against the Giants. One of the best games of the day with both teams going back and forth. For a while it seems like the only fair way to end was in a tie on OT. You have to be lucky sometimes and they were today (see Jay Feely above).
Wax Off
Houston Texan lose after leading at the half 24-3 in OT to a third string quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick from Harvard. So he can beat you in a spelling bee and on the football field. They do however lead the race for the Reggie Bush sweepstake with the worst record, 1-10, in the NFL
Wax On
Greatest running back ever? Ladalian Tomlinson had 184 yards and three touchdowns, including the game winning one in overtime. He IS the Chargers and the reason why the Chargers may be the best team left out of the playoffs.
Wax Off
Is there a weaker division than the AFC East? Okay the NFC North but it's close. The Patriots lose to Kansas City 26-16. Too many injuries and too many changes this season have hurt the Pats. Can we now say losing Weiss and Crennel had the most impact? However they will still win the horrible AFC East and make the playoff. I think this is the season Brady finally loses a postseason game.
Wax On
Philadelphia finally breaks their four game losing streak. Shows they can win without Terrell Owens and Donovan McNabb. Forget that they were playing the Packers. No really forget that they did. A win is a win no matter who it's again.
Wax Off
Michael Irvin gets busted for having drug paraphernalia. If only we knew what kind he had. Is that why you always look "jacked up" on ESPN?
And Finally....Sweep the Leg!
When can fans of Houston and Detroit finally see their inept and unproductive head coaches go? Let them go now! Steve Marriuci and Dom Capers…tap..tap…look over there….(whack! pow! bam! )….we just really felt like doing that. Much better now.

Just a matter of symantics, but the way it is working out is Seattle and Chicago would be the top two teams, so they would have …
