Terrell Owens apologizes...sort of

Terrell Owens just had his press conference because of course he has to say something after the Eagles told him to go away yesterday. When he started his press conference and read from some sheet of paper I kept thinking that he didn't write this. No way. The real TO that speaks his mind doesn't need a sheet of paper. Does anyone believe that when an athlete has a press conference to apologize they actually write it themselves? Or even an actor or politician. No way. Their publicist, manager, and/or agent jumps in to write it. They want damage control. They want to cover everything that should be said. Of course in this situation the need Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky type damange control. If Terrell Owens would have just stepped up to the mic and apologized without a note I would have believed him more.

So as he's reading it you can tell this not the real Terrell Owens. Please. To finally aplogize to Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb NOW is not the real Terrell Owens. He apologized to his teammates. He's sorry now because he doesn't get to play and be the spotlight player in a team oriented sport. He's sorry he didn't get to play on ESPN Sunday Night and more importantly on Monday Night Football. He's sorry now but where was this apology last week? After he made those comments last week he was told to aplogize to the organization, Andy Reid, and Donavan McNabb. Well at his press conference last week he only apologized to the organization and that's it. What does that say? That says alot. Now that the Eagles have dropped the hammer on his season he's apologzing to everyone. Waiting for him to apologize to all those people who drafted him on their fantasy football team this year. Now Drew Rosenhaus is making a statement and defending TO saying he's a great player, a warrior, blah blah blah. He's saying he wants TO to start playing again for the Eagles this Monday night. He wants him to start practicing with the team tomorrow. Drew is playing the typical agent and earning his money. Passing on questions that might stir up more controversy and answering ones that makes his boy look good.

Now as I'm typing this the Eagles were watching the press conference on ESPN and have said they will not take TO back. They're not even interested in reclaiming the $1.725 million from his signing bonus. They just want to get rid of him and not have to deal with him anymore.

So even though TO won't be playing football the rest of the season I'm sure we will hear from him. He has to make news and has to be in the spotlight. Maybe some K1 fighting? Maybe an Oprah appearance? Wonder if Drew will now contact some semi pro basketball teams to see if they're interested. Whatever it is I'm sure this is not the last we'll hear from him this season.
