Shakedown Saturday: Gators Win by a Hand

Auburn, Cal, and Texas, all in the top 10 of the BCS, had just about a bad of a week as Kevin Federline (more on him later in the week)

Forget talking about winning big and with style points With three teams now out of the national championship running, just getting a win was vital. Any of those teams would love to have a one point win.

The Gators might slip in the polls. Voters might not be impressed. So what. They are still in the hunt.

More than that, I am just happy to win this game. This win was important to get the Spurrier monkey off Gator nation and Urban Meyer's back. If Spurrier would have won again, it would be the second season where he ruined the Gators season. Last year it was the SEC East. This year was national championship hopes.

The Gators did not look pretty on offense. They only scored 17 points. However, they found other ways to win. The Gators blocked a critical extra point, and two field goals including the final attempt for the Cocks. The touchdown winning drive to put them up 17-16 is a final drive champions make.

What I am afraid of and everyone is starting to notice now is the Arkansas Razorbacks. They are playing the best football right now in the SEC. With Auburn losing today, Arkansas has all but locked up a trip to meet the Gators in the SEC championship. A win there possibly moves them way up. However they would need USC to lose one more game because USC trounced them in the first game of the season. If they met right now is there any question that Arkansas would win?

Still many weeks of football left and surely more one loss teams are going to lose. It's guaranteed.
