Remembering John Lennon

Didn't have time to post this yesterday but wanted to give mention to the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death. Besides the tragic and too early death of a music legend, it's forever linked to Monday Night Football as one of its most memorable moments in its history.

The way most Americans heard about his death was on Monday Night Football. There was no CNN. Monday Night Football was the show to watch on Monday's. After discussions as to whether to announce it, they decided Howard Cosell was the best choice to announce his death on air. They announced it with three seconds left in the game.

It's one of those "where were you moments?" Surely if you were old enough to remember you remember where you were. For those not born yet, you can hear the famous announcement of his death as told by Howard Cosell.
