NFL week 8 review and week 9 preview

By - Kory Kinslow

The week started off with a bang. The Broncos came out and dominated the Chargers putting them squarely into the AFC lead. The Chargers should still make the playoffs, but they need to make sure that they stay steady. The Lions improved to 6-2 while the Falcons continue to go through a free fall. The Rams lost bad to the Chiefs. The chiefs have 3 losses and need to win the games they're supposed to win and a few they're not if they expect to get out of their tough division into the playoffs.

The Texans got back on a winning track against the Titans. The Texans have a lot of work left, but should be able to play Clowney some more, making that defense even tougher. Two of the teams I thought would be getting close to a Super Bowl run or making it won this week. The Bengals beat the Ravens in a close one, proving that they can win big games. The Seahawks beat the Panthers. The Panthers appear to be regressing and the Seahawks are going to need to play better. The Pats got a big win over the bears. This will help them with confidence.

The Eagles lost to the Cardinals, giving the Cards the best record in the NFC. The Eagles remain tied with the Cowboys  atop the NFC East as the Cowboys lost a tough one to Washington. Romo got hurt late in the game, did come back, but his play was obviously affected after the injury. The Bills picked up a good win over the hapless Jets. The Bills are a surprising 5-3 and Kyle Orton may be the shock of the year. The Browns got back to their winning ways and need to continue on that trend. The Steelers came away with one of the biggest wins of the week in a crucial AFC showdown with the Colts. The Saints played better on offense against the Packers and won by 21. If the Saints pick it up, they could make a comeback in the division.

The Saints and Panthers play in a big division game this week on Thursday Night. The Cardinals and Cowboys play in another spotlight game. The Cardinals once again play for sole possession of the NFC's best record. The Cowboys will be looking to get back on track and will need to get better pass protection and a healthy Tony Romo. The Eagles play the Texans in a game that has big divisional implications for both teams.

The Broncos and Patriots will play in the week's most interesting game. The Broncos have played lights out most of the year, but the Patriots are hot and don't look to be cooling off any time soon. The Chargers play the Dolphins in a game both teams need. The Ravens and Steelers play in a game that will be huge. Both teams need this win and at 5-3 apiece it is a game that will go a long way in deciding the playoff battle in the AFC.
