Another month and another scandal involving a teacher sleeping with a student. Again it's a female teacher having improper relations with a student. Fortuntely the student isn't in middle school but a graduated student. No matter what grade they are in, it's frowned upon even in Tennessee where cousins marry each other.
This time it's a female assistant principal at Powell High School. She's been suspended temporarily while Knox County school officials investigate allegations she had a sexual relationship with a student athlete and tampered with students' grades last school year.
The student is Joseph Lee Smith, a 2006 Powell graduate and multi-sports standout who received a full athletic scholarship to play football at the University of Tennessee this year. That's what baffles me the most. Why do you need to change your grade? Tennessee accepts just about anyone who can walk on two legs. What should have been a red flag was when he became valedictorian of his high school classes when the Tennessee football team doesn't even know how to spell valedictorian. Okay the part of him being valedictorian is not true. The other is.
Though before we make quick conclusions both sides deny these allegations. Actually Smith's dad feels like someone has an ax to grind. Kallenberg has denies any grade changing or improper relationship. What is true is that Kallenberg will not be welcomed back as assistant principal. What is also true is that both these people are really stupid.
