LeBron James' Dream Year

By Jake Brown

LeBron James entered 2012 hoping to take his dynasty predicted team to an NBA Championship and silence all his haters. James did exactly that and a whole lot more.

LeBron is having a 2012 to remember. After winning an NBA MVP award, James led the way for the Heat to the NBA Finals where they would get by the Thunder in just five games. LeBron finally got his first title after being heavily scrutinized for making "the decision" prior to the 2010 season. James would get the NBA Finals MVP award and hold two trophies that he could only dream of at the beginning of this season.

If that was not enough, today LeBron James took home a Gold Medal in London as Team USA defeated Spain 107-100 for the second consecutive time in the Olympics. It was LeBron's second Gold Medal after winning in 2008. This came following LeBron made history days prior versus Australia where he recorded the first triple double in Olympics history.

The only other player to win an NBA MVP award, an NBA Championship, and a gold medal in the same year is some guy named Michael Jordan. That is not a bad name to be up there in the ranks with. LeBron's career has taken a complete turn this year as he has accomplished greatness only MJ can relate to. After taking his talents to South Beach two years ago, LeBron James is on his way to something special.

The LeBron haters have been silenced. The hostile fans may still be there, but the accomplishments King James has made in 2012 have given him the respect he did not have from many. LeBron is on his way. He goes into the 2012-2013 season hoping to start the dynasty that he predicted following his decision to take his talents to South Beach.

While it was a tremendous win for LeBron and Team USA, this year's team could only dream of the comparison to the 1992 Dream Team. The Dream Team dominated like no other filled with a roster full of NBA Hall of Famers. This year's has a lot of great, talented players, but not 11 Hall of Famers who did not make a game come close to single digits. The Dream Team had an average winning margin of 44 points. The 2012 team had two games where they only won by single digits beating Spain by seven today and Lithuania by just five in the Preliminary Round.

The Dream Team will forever hold the title of the greatest team in Olympics history, but this 2012 USA crew was also something special. When comparisons are even brought up to a team as incredible as what was put together in 1992, it can only mean greatness. The talents of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant were something special to watch in London this summer. They made it close a couple of times, but in the end the best team in the entire world took care of business and made America proud taking home the gold medal today.
