It's March Madness time!! It's the sporting event that invades businesses. It gets everyone. Males. Females. Young and old. People don't get work done. Sick days are used. Before bosses had to worry about employees spending time checking score updates throughout the day. Now it has to deal with all the games being shown live on streaming video. So don't worry about calling in sick. You can just watch the game at your desk. All companies can blame CBS for that.
Not only are companies now worried about loss productivity, they have to worry about computers playing videos slowing down their high speed network. According to IT experts, a medium-sized company can see its internet connection slow by 30 per cent because one employee is "streaming" live video. With millions expected to log-on to see the games, the consequences for networks could be disastrous. Now IT mangers are rushing to block access to video feeds and sports betting websites.
That's right online book-makers are expecting to take $1.3 billion in wagers on the NCAA over the next 20 days. It's the second biggest event behind the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is only one night. This last three weeks. Gambling heaven for those who bet. (Sports Pulse does not endorse gambling. In fact if you are stealing your kids lunch money to gamble, seek help now).
So let's hope for an exciting three weeks of March Madness. Hope everyone out there will still have a job by the end.
