I feel the exact same way you do

I’ve always read your blog and this is one of the reasons why. I feel the exact same way you do. I’ve played just about every sport out there and enjoy watching just as many. I don’t bash the ones I don’t understand or like because they all take a certain amount of skill (even driving in circles). But, every competition pales in comparison to the World Cup. I was lucky enough to go to 4 games in 1990 when it was here (I was 12) and it was amazing! And I’m super pumped that all the games this year will be in HD. USA! USA!

bravo for this post, the morons who say soccer suck don?t understand the intricacies of the game and how great of a sport it is when played correctly. Luckily, I think we have more and more people like you around America who understand soccer and how amazing it is, especially the world cup.

49ers vs. Browns
by: Chris

I wouldn?t say I?d rather watch 49ers vs. Browns, as you suggested, but I would prefer? um, say? any Orioles regular season game to the World Cup final. You make a good point though. From now on, instead of saying ?Soccer sucks!,? I?ll go with ?I don?t like Soccer because I clearly don?t understand it!?

I live by that mantra
by: Jason

I?d agree, as I live by that mantra. And it?s not just soccer, hockey and baseball to a lesser extent bore me. But, on the other hand, I truly believe half the problem is soccer fans, here and abroad seem to care so much about U.S. fans not caring. I mean, it?s hard for me to accurately judge opinions in other countries, but I just don?t feel that Americans (besides Tags) give a shit if anybody in SPain watches American football and I don?t feel that the reverse is true for soccer. No?

A team can score one goal and simply sit on the lead
by: Matt

Also, there is something inherently wrong with a game where a team can score one goal and simply sit on the lead. It happens all the time. It?s not the lack of scoring that?s a turnoff (I love a good pitchers? duel or a 1-0 hockey game). It?s the LACK OF SCORING CHANCES.

Let?s face it: Comebacks are one of the most exciting parts of sports, and they?re so infrequent in soccer because it?s so difficult to generate scoring chances.

Anyone who dislikes soccer is some kind of neanderthal
by: Matt

I love how the author and one of the posts suggest that anyone who dislikes soccer is some kind of neanderthal. If that?s the case, what, exactly, does that make the hooligans who routinely cause mass chaos and even death at matches in Europe? Or the worthless piles of excrement who chant racist cheers and throw bananas at black players?

Yeah, really seems like you soccer boys are sophisticates.

To those of you who refer to videos
by: Martin Herold

Matt. Hello?.!
If you cannot see that ?Italy Training? video is obviously a joke, I?m afraid I cannot take anything you say about soccer seriously.

If you actually believe that video was shot secretly at an actual soccer training session, you fulfill my prejudices of americans: dumb and introverted (You guys know practically nothing about the rest of the world, as your own Michael Moore has made very
clear in books such as ?Dude, Where?s My Country??

All in all, quit criticizing soccer. Sadly, you?re the only country in the world to love and be based on sports such as basketball, baseball and your so called ?football?.
But if these make you happy, nothing wrong about that.
