For ensuring another season of horrible football from the Green Bay Packer.
The Packers have hired Mike McCarthy as their new head coach. A head scratching move, to say the least, because they bring in a guy with no head coaching experience. Last season he spent as the offensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. He supposedly is regarded league-wide as a very offensive creative mind. Don't know what part of creative we saw last season with the 49ers. The 49ers seemed like they were running an offense from the NES Tecmo Bowl playbook. Alex Smith, last year's #1 draft pick, looked about as bad as you can for a 1st year pro in that offense.
No word yet on whether Brett Farve will remain with the Packers. His agent stated they wanted Steve Marriucci but presumably they didn't want leftovers from the Lions. McCarthy has had a relationship with Farve (as seen in the picture) as a quarterback coach in Green Bay so that may factor in his decision to say.
