Chris Simms Listed in Critical Condition After Bucs Game

Not only are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers season pretty much over being 0-3 but word is after the game Chris Simms was taken to the hospital and listed in “critical condition”.

Nothing during the game really gives signs to his condition. He was hit hard several times by Panthers defensive players and was taken out of the game in the third quarter. The announcers said he suffered from dehydration in the 90 degree heat and humidity. He walked out of the game on his own power and did not meet with the media. Jon Gruden spoke about him after the game...

"He is hurting right now, there is no question. He left the game. I don't know that it was because of his ribs, dehydration or both. He is a very sore and tired man right now, and I am proud of how he hung in there against a very good run defense.''

Now on the NBC pre-game show, Peter King said he spoke GM Bruce Allen and he said that Simms was NOT in critical condition.

As much as it would be easy to give Chris a hard time for his woes this season, we all wish him a speedy recovery. Not sure if the hit in the ribs damaged any internal organs and hence the reported critical condition. Usually a case of dehydration is easily treatable unless he was suffering from heat exhaustion, which is serious and needs to be dealt with immediately or death is possible.

Anyways, the story will be updated as more news becomes available.

(update: Peter King spoke with Chris' mom and she said he had his spleen taken out and had a blood transfusion.)
