A Head Stomp That Makes A Head Butt Look Like a Love Tap

I maybe have seen the most disgusting, unimaginably low class, cowardly cheap shot in the NFL this past Sunday. In the third quarter after Julius Jones ran in for a touchdown, Dallas' Andre Gurode was on the ground with his helmet off when Albert Haynsworth literally stepped on his head. Albert was immediately ejected and Gurode required 30 stiches to his head. He's very lucky the spikes missed his eye.

Gourde said this has never happened to him in his lifetime and he did not talk about Albert's sister to provoke the stomping. Afterwards, the game Jeff Fisher made a beeline to Parcells to express his outrage. He said that he would further punish Albert if he feels the NFL's punishment is not sufficient enough. I can't imagine any of his teammates not being disgusted by his action either.

Haynesworth quickly apologized for the incident...

"I apologize to Andre," Haynesworth said. "What I did was disgusting. It's something that should never happen. I mean, I'm not a dirty player. I don't play dirty. I have respect for the game. What I feel like is I disgraced the game, disgraced my team and disgraced my last name. If they suspend me that's fine," Haynesworth said. "Because for what I did, whatever they give me, I deserve it. I did it and it's wrong. That's not the game of football that's not how it's supposed to be played. I let my team down."

Did he say is truthfully or to soften what he expects to be a stiff fine from the NFL? In the video he showed clear intent on what he was doing. He wasn't stepping and accidently found Gurode's head. His foot found his head with the spikes down.

At halftime of the Seahawks vs Bears snoozer, they brought in their NFL ace in the hole Peter King to discuss the incident. He mentioned Jeff's message to Bill. Then he expected the NFL to heavily fine him $25,000 (which doesn't seem like enough). Then he anticipates the NFL to not even suspend him!! Anyone with who can drink a beer at home knows that he'll be suspended. Chris Collinsworth jumped into say this was a criminal offense, which I agree with. Can you not say it's close to what Todd Bertuzzi did with a hockey stick? He used a stick to assualt someone. Haynesworth went beyond what is even considered a cheap shot in the NFL, and stomped on his head to assualt him. I would be highly dissapointed if King is correct and the NFL doesn't even suspend him. I expect the NFL to make a statment and suspend him for a lengthy period of time. I think nothing less than five games with no pay. Get that fat boy what he deserves. Let him really think about what he did.

(Update: Get suspended for five games and no pay. Not a bad guess. Hey I can be the commish just for free Super Bowl tickets.)
