There’s No “I” in Team but There is in Jail

Gilbert Arenas is leading the way to a resurgence in teammate loyalty that seems to have been missing in the NBA. In case you missed it while Washington Wizard teammate Awvee Storey (who?) was being arrested in Miami Beach for refusing to get out of a busy street, Arenas left their vehicle and approached, despite being told to stay in the car.

Arenas was charged with resisting without violence and reportedly said, “I play for the Washington Wizards and I’m not going to leave my teammate.”

Such loyalty should be commended in this day of athletes probably saying “Dude just text me when you get out.” Not sure how good of a teammate Arenas was on the court with Storey because he averaged just over four minutes per game in 25 games and is not even under contract. But Arenas shows he even will stand by his teammate even if he’s a scrub.

I wonder if Arenas would do the same if Storey had to stash crack down his crack or dispose of a body. Arenas is crazy enough to go along. That’s a good teammate.

Not that he’s the main person of interest in this story, but I remember Awvee Storey playing at my alma mater, ASU. Quite the intense dude on the court, so no surprise that he’s…well…playing in traffic, for all intents and purposes?
