Be Careful What You Wish For Next Time

Gators Final Four

You know the old adage that goes “Be Careful What You Wish For” or “Your Dreams Will Come True”. Sometimes you just have to be careful what you ask for. A little toy truck, an Xbox 360, George Mason in the Final Four. All okay to ask for. Villanova got both of their wishes and wishes they didn’t.

On Friday night, a couple Villanova assistants were sitting in press row during the Gators v Hoyas game. One of the rules of press row is you’re not allowed to be openly cheering for one team. The two assistants weren’t openly cheering but anyone around them could hear them cheering for the Gators..

When Florida’s Lee Humphrey rose up to take a 3-pointer with a little more than two minutes remaining, one of the coaches gave a “C’mon, Humphrey.”

When Al Horford hit the first of his two free-throw tries with 6.6 seconds remaining to seal Florida’s 57-53 victory, that solicited a murmured, “Good.”

I don’t know what they were thinking. Villanova already beat Georgetown by 10 this season. Maybe they though this was the old Gators. The ones that never made it out of the second round since their finals run in 2000. The ones that Villanova beat 76-65 in the second round last year. Villanova returned all but one player from last year. The Gators had fresh faces and not much experience in the NCAA tournament.

They got what they wished for, a 24.7% shooting percentage in the game, and a big fat loss they can take home with them.

Oh Noah they didn’t!! (my bad pun for the day)

Gators look increasingly like the best team left in the Tourney. At this point, they got to be the favorite, especially since they have already beaten LSU twice this year.
