I’m rooting for 5′9” Nate Robinson in this weekend’s NBA dunk contest. If shorty can do amazing dunks he’ll bring down the house. Watching Spud Webb do his thing 20 years ago is still amazing. 360 dunk. Reverse dunk. Soaring in the air with flair. I hope Nate has some of that in him.
I don’t want Nate to win just cause he’s short and can dunk. He needs some style points. Just like I thought it was a joke a couple years ago when now Tennessee Volunteer women’s basketball player Candace Parker won the high school dunk contest just cause she dunked. One handed lame dunks. She’s 6-3. She did nothing fancy but put the ball through the hoop. If I competed against her, I’d still be pissed at the judges.
Re-live what Spud did 20 years ago to beat one of the great dunkers of all times, Dominique Wilkens.
If Nate doesn’t win at least someone please put on a performance worthy of legendary status. Just like Vince Carter did in 2000. Still one of the most jaw dropping performances in NBA dunk contest history.

Nate’s my homeboy from UW. I’ve actually had a rare chance to practice some REAL journalism and interviewed him a couple of times. He’s listed at 5′9, but is more like 5-7.
i’d love to see him bring his 2-year-old kid, Nahmier, onto the court to feed him an alley-oop. Judges must like kids.
