John Madden Can Make You Some Money During the Super Bowl

by Benny on February 3, 2006

It’s Super Bowl time so that means it’s time to blow your paycheck betting on the game! Of course that is the worst idea. Maybe bet your wife’s paycheck instead.

It is the biggest betting day in all of sports. It is estimated $7 billion will be bet on Sunday’s game, legally and otherwise. Even people who don’t know what a field goal is will put some money on this game. So Las Vegas came up with something for those casual viewers to find something to bet. It’s called the “prop” bet. A simple defitition of a prop bet is a silly, fun, side bet. Usually it’s who will score first, who will win the MVP, even will the coin flip be heads or tails. So yes someone can even be glued to the TV for a coin flip.

Looking through the prop bets I came across the strangest one I’ve seen in awhile.

What phrase will Madden say 1st after the kickoff? (from Pinnaclesports.com)

Maximum Wager: 200.00 USD
“Heck of a” +114
“Big time” +444
Horsecollar +1100
Manhandled +722
Boom +800
Wham +1500
Not say any of these all game +400

Bet $100 on any one and win the “+” amount shown. So you can see he’s favored to say “Heck of a”. I don’t typically pay attention to what Madden says so maybe some can help me out.

I guess he could say “Heck of a shot of tequilla that was!! ” right after kick off. It ’s the Super Bowl. Strange things are suppose to happen.

I have a feeling even if you knew Madden and asked him to say one of those phrases right after kick off, he’d forget to. He just seems like that type of person.
