There’s still ten days till the Super Bowl so that means there’s still time for a thousand more stories about Jerome Bettis making it to the Super Bowl. Where’s he from again? Gosh I seem to have forgotten since no one has mentioned it. My guess is he’s from China. The first black man from China playing in the Super Bowl. I get the all the big deal now.
After 13 years in the league, Jerome is a fan favorite. They seem to love this huge 255 lb (come on J, you’ve gotta be like 280) running back who plays smash mouth football.
His website is less about him but more about his foundation. There’s a small photo gallery and a bio about him. A store where you can buy only a couple items. That’s all about the Bus.
His foundation’s mission is…to not fumble the ball ever again near the goal line!! I didn’t read that but it’s probably buried somewhere on the website. His true misson is “to improve the overall quality of life for troubled and underprivleged children by offereing them oppportunities to succeed in life.” He runs many programs such as the computer literacy, computer engineering, juvenile second chance , mentorship, improve your reading, and how to not fumble the ball on the goal line! (that’s the last time I promise).
I only listed some of his programs. You sense this foundation has touched the lives of many children in the Pittsburgh area. Great to know some players doing are good for the community instead of making it worse.
